Pimobendan belongs to the group of drugs called positive inotropes, meaning those that increase the force of contraction of the heart. In addition, pimobendan has a peripheral vasodilatory effect.

of hemodynamic instability, while simultaneously improving cardiac contraction strength, reducing oxygen demand, and decreasing the excessive pressure on the heart. The following combinations of pimobendan are beneficial:
Diuretics: Because the body's neurohormonal mechanisms cause fluid retention in patients with congestive heart failure, leading to edema and ascites, the concurrent administration of furosemide is recommended.
Antiarrhythmics: Since pimobendan lacks antiarrhythmic effects, its use in combination with these drugs should be considered.
